GT Legend Automotive Holdings and Compassionate Therapeutic Solutions, LLC Discuss the Medical Marijuana Debate .Companies:GT Legend Automotive Holdings Inc..Press Release Source: GT Legend Automotive Holdings, Inc. On Monday March 8, 2010, 4:00 pm FULLERTON, Calif., March 8, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GT Legend Automotive Holdings, Inc. (Pink Sheets:GTLA - News) issued a statement today regarding the debate over medical marijuana. Joycelyn Elders, MD, former US Surgeon General, wrote, "The evidence is overwhelming that marijuana can relieve certain types of pain, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms caused by such illnesses as multiple sclerosis, cancer and AIDS -- or by the harsh drugs sometimes used to treat them. And it can do so with remarkable safety. Indeed, marijuana is less toxic than many of the drugs that physicians prescribe every day." (Source: http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/v...uestionID=1325). While studies show that therapeutic cannabis aids in pain relief, helps physical conditions to improve and allows the aching population to function with increased capability, the medical marijuana movement still faces some tenacious opposition. On the other hand, it also has some unwavering proponents, including talk show host, Montel Williams. Williams has participated in several debates and lectures on the subject of medical marijuana use. A clip of one debate that aired on the CNN program, Larry King Live, can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZZL9dIgHvA. During this particular debate, he makes the point that he is not an advocate for legalizing marijuana, but rather, his goal is for doctors across the country to be able to prescribe therapeutic cannabis as a medication for pain relief, just as they'd prescribe any other drug. In addition, President Obama has commented on the subject, stating that even though he's not familiar with all the details of the initiative that was passed and what safeguards were in place, he thinks the basic concept of using medical marijuana is entirely appropriate when legitimately prescribed by doctors and used as a treatment for illness in the same way and with the same controls as other drugs prescribed by doctors (Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvUzi...eature=related). Eugene Espinosa, President of GTLA, commented, "CTS has been developed to identify the best therapeutic practices for medical marijuana users. According to http://www.marijuananews.org/, the State of Colorado has legalized marijuana for medical use, and has placed it in the Colorado Constitution, Article XVIII # 14, the Supreme Law of Colorado. Therefore, Compassionate Therapeutic Solutions is in the right place at the right time to provide clinical care to those individuals who have been prescribed therapeutic cannabis for medicinal, pain relief purposes. Our goal moving forward is to educate the community on the benefits that this resource provides to qualified, registered patients when used under the proper care and supervision of licensed professionals, like those who staff CTS." |

GT Legend Automotive Holdings and Compassionate Therapeutic Solutions, LLC Review Benefits of Medical Marijuana .Companies:GT Legend Automotive Holdings Inc..Press Release Source: GT Legend Automotive Holdings, Inc. On Tuesday March 16, 2010, 4:00 pm EDT FULLERTON, Calif., March 16, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GT Legend Automotive Holdings, Inc. (Pink Sheets:GTLA - News) issued a statement today reviewing the benefits of medical marijuana. Medical Marijuana can be used to treat glaucoma, nausea, vomiting, appetite loss and chronic pain. It can provide relief for patients suffering from arthritis, multiple sclerosis, insomnia, seizures and other painful ailments. According to Mitch Earleywine, Ph.D., an associate professor of psychology at SUNY Albany, opponents of medical marijuana mention that other drugs are available to treat these and other disorders. However, Dr. Earleywine points out that people differ; some patients do not respond well to other medications, and may even experience adverse side effects. Therefore, therapeutic cannabis is a proper choice for certain cases. (Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/...n4844665.shtml). According to the American Nurses Association, "The American Nurses Association (ANA) recognizes that patients should have safe access to therapeutic marijuana/cannabis. Cannabis or marijuana has been used medicinally for centuries. It has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of symptoms and conditions." (Source: American Nurses Association. "Position Statement: Providing Patients Safe Access to Therapeutic Marijuana/Cannabis." March 19, 2004. http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/v...uestionID=1325 / http://www.nursingworld.org/MainMenu...hivedNews.aspx). As of December, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported 820 physicians recommend medical marijuana. (Source: http://www.cdphe.state.co.us/release/2009/121709.html). One of which is Dr. Alan Shackelford, who says he "screens his patients carefully and examines them thoroughly before writing a marijuana recommendation." He says "I found that the research and clinical experience of patients with Cannabis as medicine was overwhelmingly positive, found it was a useful thing for them." (Source: http://www.globenewswire.com/newsroo...%26catid%3D339. "Doctor believes more physicians will recommend medical marijuana" by Lori Obert & Anastasiya Bolton). Eugene Espinosa, President of GTLA, commented, "CTS has been developed to identify the best therapeutic practices for medical marijuana users. We are firm believers in the use of therapeutic cannabis, as long as the patient has a legitimate recommendation from a doctor, and as long as they are undergoing the proper and therapeutic treatment and support. CTS is here to serve the aching population and to provide such therapeutic support for approved, registered medical marijuana users. From a financial point of view, a center with approximately 400 patients can generate revenues of approximately $70,000 per month." |

Compassionate Therapeutic Solutions, LLC Introduces the Wellness Center to Cancer Patients .Companies:GT Legend Automotive Holdings Inc..Press Release Source: GT Legend Automotive Holdings, Inc. On Friday April 30, 2010, 4:47 pm COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 30, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GT Legend Automotive Holdings, Inc. (Pink Sheets:GTLA - News) in conjunction with Compassionate Therapeutic Solutions, LLC, announced today that Eugene Espinosa, the company's President, has been busy promoting the CTS wellness center via a series of presentations to cancer patients in Colorado Springs and the surrounding communities. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is 1 of 27 Institutes and Centers that comprise the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In the National Cancer Institute Act of 1937, NCI was established as the Nation's principal agency for cancer research. As a Federal Government agency, NCI receives its funds from the U.S. Congress. These funds support research at the Institute's headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, and in laboratories and medical centers throughout the United States and in other countries. NCI's budget for the 2008 fiscal year was $4.83 billion. For the 2007 fiscal year, it was $4.79 billion, and, for 2006, it was $4.75 billion. (Source: http://www.cancer.gov/). According to the American Cancer Society's 2003 data, more than 1,300,000 Americans are diagnosed with cancer each year. At least 300,000 of them will undergo chemotherapy, and 132,000 patients may have therapeutic cannabis recommended to them to combat the side effects of conventional treatments (Source: http://www.americansforsafeaccess.org/). Vinciguerra et al. found that 78% of 56 patients suffering from nausea who were resistant to standard drugs became symptom-free after inhaling cannabis (Source: http://www.concept420.com/). A 1999 report published by the Institutes of Medicine stated that nausea, appetite loss, pain and anxiety, all of which are symptoms associated with cancer, can be mitigated by medical marijuana. The same report also stated that pills are generally ineffective in treating patients experiencing severe nausea or vomiting because of the difficulty in swallowing or keeping a pill down and the slow onset of the drug effect. Therefore, they conclude that cannabinoid inhalation is effective in treating the nausea that is caused by chemotherapy. Kathryn Newman, R.N., M.S., states, "Medical marijuana can be used as a pain reliever to combat the discomfort caused by various cancers. It can also soothe the nausea associated with chemotherapy. In addition to pain relief, studies also show that the euphoric effects of the chemical THC which is contained in cannabis may act as a mood elevator; this is yet another benefit for cancer patients." About Compassionate Therapeutic Solutions, LLC: Compassionate Therapeutic Solutions, LLC is a multidisciplinary behavioral health care practice that offers mental health, substance abuse and primary caregiver services to communities of Colorado. The company's focus is to provide cost-effective quality treatment and to create, promote, and maintain a positive customer relationship with clients, associates and the community. One of the functions of the clinic is to provide comprehensive care to individuals who are registered and authorized to utilize medical marijuana. |
